The elite men's wheelchair field at the TCS London Marathon

Participants with disabilities

We believe that sport and activity should be accessible for all, which is why our dedicated team supports people with a huge range of disabilities – from elite wheelchair athletes to everyday participants – to take part in the TCS London Marathon.

If you require assistance with our online entry system or have any questions, please email us and we'll be happy to help.

Take Part

All entrants must be 18 or over on Marathon Day. To receive a finisher’s medal, you must complete the event by the official cut-off time.

Handbikes, trikes, skates, inline skates such as Rollerblade, skateboards, scooters or any geared or motorised device may not be used.

You can use the following wheeled equipment or device:

  • Standard day chairs/wheelchairs with a maximum width of 95cm and length of 2.20m (entered into the mass participation event) – a FreeWheel attachment may be also used.
  • Race Runners – but please email us first if you wish to use one of these.
  • Crutches, frames or walkers that are not motorised or geared.

Assisted Wheelchair Participants

Assisted wheelchair participants can take part, with a maximum number of four support personnel helping to push them from Greenwich to Westminster. Of the four, only two can push the assisted wheelchair at one time. There is a ballot that takes places once a year for a number of assisted places. Places for 2024 have now been allocated, and details for 2025 will be released in the summer.

Exoskeletons

If you need a battery-operated robotic exoskeleton, such as ReWalk, you can now use this to complete the TCS London Marathon. A team of four helpers can also join you for the event, with a maximum of two helpers allowed on the course with you at any one time. Please email us for more information.

Interested in a Support Runner?

If you are visually impaired, or your disability or medical condition means you need a support runner, you can apply for a free place for them. Please email us outlining your request and the reasons for it.

If you would like a Support Runner, The Richard Whitehead Supported Runners Project in partnership with Nissan can pair you with someone for Event Day. You can register your interest here

If you have secured a place and would like to request a waiver of the cut-off time for medal purposes, or if you would like to use a Race Runner or similar equipment, please email your request to us. Ensure you outline your request and reasons. Applications are considered case-by-case – we look forward to hearing from you.

On Event Day, we also have the following support:

Mobiloos

There are RevoLOOtion Mobiloos at the start and finish. The toilet and changing facility is manned and available for disabled participants. There are two within the Blue Assembly Area at the start and one on the corner of Marlborough Road at the finish.

Quiet Space

If the crowds and noise are overwhelming and you need a calming and soothing spot, we also provide a quiet space at the finish for neurodivergent participants.
